If you are here because of my blunder on July 28th, I sincerely apologise. To say I feel physically ill about this is an understatement.
For what it is worth, here is what happened.
When sending emails, I loop through the database, one user at a time, getting the email address and then sending the email. So far so good.
What went wrong is that the “to:” email address wasn’t cleared before getting the next one. Even worse, the next one was being added to the end of the list. So each loop added another email address with the list getting longer and longer.
But even worse…if that is possible…is that each time the email was sent with the longer list. So the first email went to [email protected], the second went to [email protected] & [email protected]. The third email went to [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]. And so on.
The poor people at the beginning of the list…I don’t even want to think about it.
Once again, I am so sorry about this for so many reasons.
